‘Heal the World‘ è una canzone che Michel Jackson scrisse pensando alla necessità di curare le ferite del mondo causate da guerre e povertà; è un appello accorato e gentile affinché tutti si impegnino a realizzare questo progetto di amore e di pace.
Non si trattava solo di un desiderio astratto; infatti Michael Jackson ha anche creato la Heal the World Foundation, un’organizzazione di beneficenza progettata per migliorare la vita dei bambini in diffocoltà, e al contempo insegnare loro ad aiutare a loro volta gli altri. L’associazione è stata chiusa nel 2004.
Jackson ha detto che “Heal the World” è la canzone che era più orgoglioso di aver creato.

Michael Jackson dichiarò di aver scritto la canzone ‘Heal the World‘ mentre si trovava seduto sopra il ramo di un enorme albero del Neverland Ranch, che l’artista chiamava “giving tree” (l’albero donatore) perché riteneva che tale albero lo ispirasse nello scrivere nuove canzoni.
